I reached out to Katy Morrison of PINK gallery in the beginning stages of developing 'Mother'. She took the project on board immediately and began helping me apply for grants, including Arts Council Funding. In the end, we got a grant from Stockport to host the first iteration of 'Mother'. This covered all materials, including a small bread oven. We are currently working on the Arts Council funding proposal to host a continual series of the workshops.
Prior to the workshop I made it a point to further build my relationship with the space and the artists working there at that time. I visited PINK for every iteration of Anna MacDonald and Jeni Baines' joint explorative exhibition 'New Arrangements'. This exhibition would remain in the space and be on view during 'Mother'.
As I built my relationships with the artists over those few weeks, I was invited to help invigilate the final iteration of the show, as well as be a performance assistant in MacDonald's work 'this is for you'; a 1:1 performer/viewer experience witnessed from the gallery window, watching out over the back building space of Hilton House.
